GoldCare Ready to Support the CSS CAP's Selection of the interRAI Community Health Assessment
Waterloo, Ontario – May 11, 2010
GoldCare, market leaders in healthcare management software, announced today their readiness to support the Community Support Services Common Assessment Project's selection of the interRAI Community Health Assessment (CHA). GoldCare contains a comprehensive automated RAI-CHA instrument that has been successfully deployed by the Central, South East and Mississauga Halton LHINs since mid-2009.
GoldCare's Assessment Information Manager (AIM) provides a standardized set of tools and templates for completing the interRAI CHA and other assessments. Developed in partnership with interRAI and the University of Waterloo, GoldCare's CHA instrument complies with interRAI standards. It features an automated step-by-step format for quick and consistent data entry, which increases data accuracy and inter-rater reliability. When combined with GoldCare's Care Anywhere solution, assessments can be conducted on a laptop or tablet at the point-of-care, providing flexbility to your workforce, and convenience to clients.
GoldCare automatically calculates Client Assessment Protocols (CAPs) and outcome scores that can be used to generate a suggested client care plan, track care trends as well as shared traits or disparities among client populations. GoldCare provides comprehensive graphical analysis of CAPs and outcomes using built-in business intelligence capabilities. This comprehensive documentation and analysis allows for improved care planning, effective monitoring of client progress, increased quality of care and risk management.
In the case of the LHINs, GoldCare is an Internet-based hosted solution, which enables centralized data management across multiple care agencies. In addition to gained administrative efficiencies and productivity improvements, this allows for system-wide planning across the entire LHIN. This level of information access also lets every agency within the LHIN view service requirements, thereby providing a collective understanding of care needs for the entire region.
As experienced in the Central LHIN area, the interRAI CHA provides a best practice standard for fairly and accurately assessing clients for services. The Central Community Support Services (CSS) Network, an affiliation of agencies providing services to seniors, people with physical disabilities, hospice and other specialty needs within the Central LHIN, has successfully used GoldCare's CHA instrument to create a client profile for their Supportive Housing and Day programs for the first time. In less than one year of use, they have already completed 1500 RAI-CHA Assessments using GoldCare, which exceeded their target of 1000.
"We've found the GoldCare CHA tool has tremendous potential to be very effective through the full client and business cycle from intake, assessment, documentation, care planning, management decision-making and system-level planning," says Deborah Egan, Director for the Central CSS Network. "The RAI-CHA has also led to earlier referrals and linkages to other support services, resulting in proactive identification of needs that may prevent the need for more costly health care services."
Adds Egan: "The management functionality within Goldcare will also provide CSS management and LHIN staff to better understand the profile of the clients served by the CSS sector to improve targeting of services related to ED/ALC, risk management and program planning."
